DIY Floral Top Vogue Pattern 8977

Welcome back, welcome back...welcome back!!!!!! I'm so happy to be sewing and blogging again! So, the last time I blogged was in June....a lot has happened in my life since then.  Back in May, my husband and I decided to move to Houston, TX.  We literally sold the majority of our items (minus my fabric and sewing machine :)) and prepared to  travel 17 hours from NC.

Why TX?? Well, my husband and I visited Houston about a year before moving here. While we enjoyed our visit, and the food, my husband was not completely sold on moving so far away from home.  In May, the Houston School District traveled to NC in search of highly qualified teachers. We agreed that it was worth a shot, so I attended.  Needless to say, I returned home with an offer to move to H Town. So, we packed up and headed to Texas.
We are thoroughly enjoying our new home and new jobs, however, I'm a little concerned that my waist measurements may change with all of this good food we've been indulging in.  Luckily we have a gym handy in our apartment building.

So, on to the good stuff.  I actually made this top this summer after being inspired by Mimi!  I immediately went to Joann's and purchased Vogue's V8977 pattern and went to work.  I already had the fabric in my stash (which was also purchased from Joann's) so all I needed were coordinating thread and buttons for the back of the top.  The pattern is very easy, but if you're like me, you may need to read through the instructions a few times before cutting your pieces out.  I really enjoyed making and wearing this top.  I plan on making many more to wear during this glorious fall weather in Houston.
I look forward to sharing my Houston photos and my new DIY's with you guys!!
